human trafficing

A few Stats to think about :

  • Roughly 2 to 4 million people are trafficked in and across borders each year.
  • Human trafficking is now a leading source of profits for organized crime, together with drugs and weapons, generating an estimated 9.5 billion dollars per year.
  • The overwhelming majority of those trafficked are women and children.
  • The average victim is forced to have sex up to 20 times a day.

The UN reports that Western Europe contains most of the highest-ranking destination countries in the Human Trafficking citation index. These include:

  • Greece, Belgium, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands.
  • Austria, Bosnia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Kosovo, Poland, Switzerland, and the UK.

There is more people in slavery now in this supposedly free world than there was before slavery was abolished!

When confronted with the statistics, the issue of human trafficking can be overwhelming to say the least. It’s true… “someone SHOULD do something”, so we have decided to take responsibility and put our hand up… if for no other reason than just because we have a hand to raise and a heart that’s willing to make a difference. We have decided to become that “someone”. This is why we created The A21 Campaign. We can ALL play a part in fighting injustice… it is the only way we can win.

The A21 Campaign
stands for abolishing injustice in the 21st century. Anyone can join – everyone can make a difference.

take that

Went to see TAKE THAT yesterday at sunderlands stadium of light……WOW just WOW!

What am amazing night!!

It was my first ever gig and it was so amazing.

Left my house at 13.45 in the afternoon as wanted to get there early because the queues would be massive, doors opened at 16.00 and by that time the place was packed!

There was a rumour going around that Robbie Williams had checked into the same hotel as the take that lads but as he didn’t show that was all it was – shame :)

Anyhow the ticket I had was a standing ticket, but because we got there early we were able to grab seats!

Not only that but the seats had a fantastic view as well.

Two warm up acts, one called Gary Go and the other was James Morrison, they started it off around 18.30 and then Take That came on around 20.00.

Fantastic, totally fantastic!

The Show just kept getting better and better, acrobats, stunts, a massive elephant that came out of the stage that they appeared on top of, the circus top lifting up, a giant puppet ringmaster, fireworks, the lot.

Such an amazing night, the atmosphere was incredible, at one point I just stopped at looked around at these 50,000 people and thought “wow imagine if this was CHURCH!

It finished about 23.00 maybe, was on the park and ride at midnight anyhow, couldnt move the bus was hemmed in by all the people, got home and collapsed into bed at 01.30 in the morning.

Im still buzzing now, I wanna go again!

Move…Part two…

The Saturday we came to move, we wasn’t at all sure how many people that would come to help us move house, I’d sent out a appeal over Twitter, and sent out a lot of text messages asking for help, got a few back saying that people where already busy etc etc.

So anyway, come 12pm, there was 10 people there including myself and hubby and it was a good job really that nobody else came to help as they would have just got in the way, by 4pm we had more or less finished and only just in time as the heavens opened just as we where getting the fridge inside the new house.

I went to borrow one of the Xcel Church vans with my dad, been going to aycliffe for ages now, guess what…….I got us lost haha.

We eventually found it and picked the van up, its quite a huge van when you look inside so we could fit loads of things in.

A few people turned up with food or went out specially to get food and drink for us, so there was lots of food going around as people helped.

It was a good fast move, if we had not had all those people helping it would have took us at least a day to move everything.
