I am vehemently against drugs and alcohol, this is because I have seen the damage that they can do first hand.

I know what it is like to come home and wonder, “is today going to be a alcohol free day”, wondering why this happened to our family and wonder where is the person that I once knew….

I was and am glad of the friends around me that supported and still support me through.

In my opinion, mankind should never have found out about drugs and alcohol due to all the damage it does, I mean falling out of a nightclub on a Friday night is not much fun and I should imagine the same applies for being off your head on drugs.

Most of all, I hope I will be happy.

I’ve been married for coming up to seven years now and have been with my husband for nine nearly ten years, some of the times in my marriage have been a battle where I seem to be hanging on with just the tips of my fingernails, other times it has been a walk in the park.

There is times where I look at my single friends and actually, I’m quite jealous, they have the freedom and the time to go out and do whatever, like go to uni or traveling abroad, something like that, hard thing to do when your a mother as well, I’ve actually always wondered what uni would be like, but time, finance and lack of “smarts” has pretty much seen off that idea.

But anyway, I guess marriage isn’t just a smooth ride, you gotta take the highs with the lows.

I went to work today and just after dinner, I got sent downstairs to the office as there was a phone call for me

I answered the phone and it turned out to be my sons school, who informed me that he had fallen over and had a deep cut on the back of his head, they asked me to come pick him up, I had to say to them that I was at work and that I would try and contact my husband, ( not as easy as you might think as I had a email from him earlier, informing me that his mobile battery had completely died and we have no land-line).

Anyway, I went and told my boss what was going on and asked if I could go try contacting my husband or somebody to get hold of him so he knew what was going on, I couldn’t reach anybody so by this point I tried my parents who live in the next town over, turned out that my dad was at work, then about five minutes later my mum rang back saying that she’d rang my dad at work and they were coming straight over.

By this time, I’d already gone back downstairs and spoken to my boss, who then turned round and said to me, your son is more important than work, go, but let me know how he is”.

I got to the school and found my son sat in the reception area, holding a piece of gauze to his head with a member of staff waiting for me, my first thought on seeing him was that he looked slightly pale and then I just gave him a cuddle.

Went outside with him to wait for my parents to come and take us to the hospital via our house to let my husband know what was going on, got to hospital and he looked OK when we got there, still saw the doctor though and my little boy was brave, even though he got his wound washed with salt water to clean it, then he had to get his head glued.

Got home and he now seems unintentionally determined to get sent back to hospital, I’m on tenterhooks watching his near misses!!

I have recently been sent on a one day course for work by my manager, it was very informative and showed me where I could improve in my job, now that I have completed the course my job title has changed, Instead of a Crew Member I am now a Hostess, with the possibility of a pay rise.

As a consequence of doing this course my manager now wants to put me on another course which is a level 2 Apprenticeship in Multi-Skilled Hospitality – a qualification that is equivalent to five GCSEs grade A*-C.

I sat and thought about it for days before agreeing to complete it because it would mean working some shifts in kitchen area, which I was loath to do as I was kind of scared of working in kitchen.

I talked it over with my husband and he encouraged me to go for it, also saying that there must be a reason why im still working there, after filling out so many application forms for jobs and not getting anything.

He also said something quite interesting which was that he could see me in a management position ten years down the line, when I queried him he said that I am capable of a management position, its just that I lack the confidence.

So, I guess I will stick the job out and lets see where it takes me!

My Son has now had his stabilizers removed from his bike and we are trying to get him used to riding it, however, I did not realise just what a hard job it really is to teach a child to ride.

He starts off OK, then as soon as either one of us lets go of his back he stops pedaling, it really is quite infuriating as he is so close to getting it, I guess that its all about confidence.

We shall see.
